A Great Ride!

This is me with 3 miles to go in the Tri-Miami triathlon. I would put completing this triathlon up there with childbirth. It was awesome to complete but I'm not ready to tackle another one right away. I have enormous respect for all those running their own endurance race with cancer. It was that thought that got me up and over the Key Biscayne causeway the fourth time.

Tomorrow I'll be back to posting May scrapbook and card samples.

God Bless,
Martha

Put Your Game Face On!

The Team in Training coaches said to "Put your game face on!".
  • Over $2600 raised for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through Team in Training.
  • Sunday morning the Tri-Miami Triathlon begins.
  • Swim 0.9 miles
  • Bike 25 miles
  • Run 6.1 miles
  • The ribbons represent the people I am running in honor of and in memory of. Just during the 3 months of training 2 of these people have lost the battle with blood cancer.
  • The race is on to complete the triathlon. The race is on to find a cure!
  • Thanks from the bottom of my heart for your encouragement and generous donations.

Please Help.

Since February, I have swam close to 11 miles, biked more than 300 miles, and run over 100 miles. Why am I putting my aging body through this you may ask? To help find a cure for blood cancers with Team in Training (TNT) and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Along with my committment to train 6 days a week I have committed to raise $2600 for blood cancer research and patient assistance.

With less than a month before the Triathlon our team is putting the finishing touches on the training and the fundraising. As of today, I have raised $2190. Only $410 left!
If you are a regular reader or just passing through my blog, please consider a donation to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. You can give on-line at http://pages.teamintraining.org/cfl/miatri09/mstewardot You will help me reach my fundraising goal but more importantly you will help thousands of people battling blood cancers. (If you have or have had a loved one battling leukemia, Hodgkin's disease, lymphoma, or myeloma, I would be honored to carry a ribbon in their honor or memory during the competition. Just leave a message below, on my TNT website, or contact me.)

On May 3rd I will compete in the Tri-Miami Triathlon; swimmiing 0.9mile, biking 26 miles, and running 6.1 miles. It has been an awesome ride!! TNT & LLS have been awesome to work with. Our tri team and coaches have kept me going when I wanted to quit. People, some I don't know, have amazed me with their generous support of this worthy cause and have touched my heart with stories of their own endurance race against cancer.

Thanks and God bless you,
Martha

March Update for Team in Training

The first month of training is over and my body feels like I just started. It’s getting harder rather than easier!

We train 6 days a week. We are up to a mile swim 2 days a week, a 20 mile bike ride 2 days a week, and a 3-5 mile run 2 days a week.

Honestly there have been days when I’ve thought about quitting. “Why am I putting my body through this?” I am quickly reminded of my reason for doing this; those who have blood cancer. They have no choice but to endure and press on. And many do so with a smile on their face and hope in their hearts. I know how I feel with each donation and each encouraging word I receive; “I can do this!” In the same way, caner patients need to know we believe a cure can be found and we believe in them. That feeling of “I can do this!” is contagious.

Thank you for your generous support and encouragement. It says to me, to the blood cancer researchers, to families, and most importantly to the patients themselves; “We believe in you! You can do this! Don’t give up!”

God Bless,

Martha

I am almost half way to my fund raising goal of $3000. If you haven’t made a donation yet please consider giving to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. You can give on line at my fund raising page http://pages.teamintraining.org/cfl/miatri09/mstewardot or mail a check made out to LLS to me at 615 Pinetree Drive, Indialantic, FL 32903.

Raising Funds for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Societs(LLS)

I'm training to participate in an endurance event as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Team In Training. I will be participating in the Tri-Miami Triathalon May 3rd of this year. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I am completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers; who are enduring a trial I can only imagine. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!
Please make a donation to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance LLS's mission. Click here to make an online donation.

Thank you and God Bless,
Martha
