Glitter for the Fourth!

06222012c

My in-laws have an annual 4th of July party at their home. For this years invitation I used this quilt block pattern I found on line.
quilt2
If you notice in the pattern it is a combination of squares and triangles.  To keep it simple I used a 4.25” square piece of Night of Navy cardstock (#100867) as the background and blue parts and embossed it with the Stripes Embossing Folder(#123128).  I then cut 12” x 1” strips of the Red(#121790) and Silver(124005) Glimmer paper and then cut them down into 1” squares. I hand cut the squares in half to make the triangles I needed.

It then became a process of piecing it together. I started at one corner and worked my way around and then into the center. I followed the same process as seen in this earlier post. Tombow(#110755) Liquid Glue was my adhesive of choice.

Once I had my design done, I trimmed it down to make it square. Each block was never completely square so I trimmed them down to about a 4” square. Also the centers often didn’t always meet perfectly so I used Brights Glimmer Brads(#121006) or one of the Itty Bitty Shapes(#118309) punched out with Red Glimmer Paper to hide my efforts.

Each square was attached to a 4.5” square card base with the invitation information inside.

I can’t tell how excited I was to use my new Simply Scored Diagonal Plate(#125586) to make an envelope that fit PERFECTLY!  It is my new “BFF”.
I purposely left the sentiment off.

Hope you enjoyed today’s project.  Thanks for stopping by. Leave a comment if you have a moment. I always enjoy hearing what the readers think.

God Bless,

Fun Quilting Projects

Now this is a lot of red, white and blue! My youngest daughter, Michele, learned to quilt making this with her Aunt Margaret recently. It will be going to a wounded serviceman through a quilting project my sister participated in when it's finished. Margaret had Michele lay out her pattern and sew the blocks together. It's beautiful! I am totally flabbergasted at how neatly all the pieces and corners lined up! My girls can sew and I can't!

Since I'm not much of a seamstress beyond repair and buttons, I did a bit of my own quilting; paper quilting that is. This card was inspired from a card by Ann Schach. The star pattern was made out of 1" squares adhered to a 4x4" piece of Cherry Cobbler card stock and embossed using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. The 4th of July sentiment was printed out on my computer. The hardest part of this card was getting everything lined up. Please visit my instructions on an easy way I found to do this.

I can't help you much with quilt questions but feel free to contact me with any questions you have on paper quilting.

Hope your Sunday is great!

Happy 4th of July!

Today's project is for our annual 4th of July party. I put cutlery in these but they could hold all sorts of things. Each one takes 1 sheet of card stock plus a little extra for decorations and suspenders. I also used 1/4" grosgrain ribbon to decorate mine.

I will try and get cutting instructions later today. This is not my design but my interpretation of the original project, Santa's Pants.

I hope you all have a wonderful 4th of July.

God Bless,

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Birthday America! What a blessing it is to live in this country! May we never take our freedom for granted.

This card was created for the Wednesday Sketch Challenge at SplitCoast Stampers and to celebrate the 4th of July! I love this stamp set and was sorry to see it retire. It will be a set I keep to use again and again. But the new catalog has some awesome stamp sets for celebrating our country and for remembering our service men and women which I have posted below.

I have so enjoyed this stamp set, which we will be saying farewell to in a few days! Don't miss purchasing it and remember FREE shipping through June on all orders on-line or placed directly through Seasons Of Stamping. Contact me to place your order. At our June Divine Design class, we made a card to go along with this piece for our scripture collection. The scripture we used is Psalm 46:1,2, "God is our refuge and strength, therefore we will not fear". We will be using this scripture again in July as we make cards for "Operation Gratitude".

It's not too late to join us for our monthly Divine Design class as we create a project to bles
s someone with and one to put in to a scripture collection for ourselves. Check out my Events Calendar to the right for the next class and pay securely through Paypal at the above link.

Tip: The stars on the stamp are the same size as Stampin'Up!s Small Star punch. I love how Stampin'Up! takes the time to coordinate their products!! It makes creating fun and easy.
