Thoughts & Prayers

102712a
Very simple sympathy cards I created using Stampin’Up!s Thoughts and Prayers stamp set.
102712b
The rectangle background is a stencil I punched out using my 1 1/4” Square Punch. The top card was sponged with Baja Breeze and Daffodil Delight; the bottom card with Sahara Sand and Daffodil Delight.
The inspiration for this card came from Canadian Demonstrator, Robyn Stahls.
A short and sweet post, but a post non the less!

A Mix of Textures

080311f

This card mixes the Deck the Halls Fabric, Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder, Textured card stock and Antique Brads giving the finished antique look.

Here’s a couple of hints I discovered as I created this card.

  • (You seamstresses probably already know this) To get this great unraveled edge to your project instead of cutting the size you want, rip the size you want. Make a small snip in the fabric at the size you want and rip away! It’s easy, gives you a straight line and relieves stress!
  • You can adhere the fabric right to the card base but, I adhered it to a 3”x4” piece of card stock using the Anywhere Glue Stick. Works perfectly!
  • The image was stamped on Very Vanilla Textured card stock. First,to give it the stained look I used a piece of the Stamping Sponge and rubbed on River Rock Classic Ink. You can also mix colors. I used a little bit of Sahara Sand in places.
  • Before you emboss, wipe your cardstock down with 080311dthe Embossing Buddy. It will keep your Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder where you want it.

I also embossed the edges of the image piece. I simply ran the VersaMark around the edges and covered it with Gold Stampin’ Emboss powder.

  • To get the little notches on top I used the Decorative Label punch and inserted only the top corners, one at a time into the corner of the punch. All I punched were the corners.
  • The Antique Brad finishes off the card. If the brad is not holding anything together just bend off the back and adhere it to the card using Glue Dots.

This card may look a bit complicated but it really was not. Follow the hints above and you’ll be creating your own antique creations!

If you’re not in to embossing yet, I’d love to help you get started. Contact me if you have any questions. I’ll be happy to help you put your order together to make sure you have everything you need to get started!

Hope you have a wonderful day!

God bless,

Growing Green Mojo!

What a fun sketch today at Mojomonday! Lots of possibilities.

I chose Growing Green Stamp set and Woodland Walk Designer Series paper with its coordinating colors of Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Very Vanilla. I also added in some Pear Pizzazz and River Rock colors because they fit together so perfectly with the project.

I used every image in the set in some form on this card. Some are stamped directly onto the layers and some are snipped out. The paper and stamps make a beautiful combination.. The sentiment is from the stamp set, Thoughts and Prayers.

I was so excited when I finished the card and then.... I saw...I had adhered it upside down on my card base. Cannot believe I did that!!

MojoMonday is always a good place to get your "mojo" on! Just make sure it's not upside down! Let me know if you have any questions and I so appreciate your comments so please leave one before you go. Thank you for all your comments!!

Thoughts & Prayers ~ One of my Favorites!

I love this stamp set! The prayer tree in the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set is simple, peaceful, & just beautiful. I struggled a bit when I added the ribbon not wanting it to be frilly but loving the look it added to the card. I have three cards I will be sending to young women who have lost someone they love and am hoping a little beauty during difficult times will bring a smile to their face and a bit of peace to their hearts.
This week's color challenge at Pals Paper Arts combines Perfect Plum, Baja Breeze, & Pear Pizzazz. It is a beautiful combination. I used my Stampin' Write Markers to ink the image and embellished it with a bit of gathered ribbon. A bit of texture using Vintage Wallpaper Embossing Folder, the Crimper and Basic Pearls left me happy with my finished product.

I hope you enjoyed today's project! Make sure to stop by Pals Paper Arts to see all the wonderful projects and give the color challenge a try your self!

Stampin'Up! Thoughts & Prayers

Thoughts and Prayers Stamp Set

This stamp set makes it easy to create "get well" and "sympathy" cards. The images are very peaceful images and sentiments very tender.

My color pallet came from Stampin'Up!'s Color Coach, a great tool to help you combine colors. I combined Cajun Craze with Old Olive and a little bit of Not Quite Navy. I softened the card up a bit by sponging the edges of Very Vanilla, and Spritzing the card base using the Color Spritzer.

Thanks for stopping by! Stop back tomorrow for the Pals Blog Hop where we'll be showcasing some great fall the Thanksgiving projects! If you have any questions please contact me and if you have time, leave a comment before you go. I love seeing who has stopped by! Have a great day!

God Bless

Haiti Needs You

Card by Mike Funke at Stampin' Style

Today's post is in honor and memory of the people of Haiti.

One of the poorest countries in the world, Haiti has needed our help in the past and needs it even more now. Entire hospitals, schools, churches, apartment buildings, businesses, and homes collapsed after yesterdays 7.0 earthquake. There is not much stability in Haiti either structurally or governmentally. This country needs so much. It may seem a hopeless cause but, we have to try. Haiti has dark times; I cannot even imagine the darkness that has hit them with this disaster.

There are many humanitarian organizations trying to help Haiti. I hope you will prayerfully consider making a donation to one of them. Sumaritan's purse is one such group that sent its first disaster team in yesterday evening. Their website is http://www.samaritanspurse.org/ and they have a button to donate on-line. There are also groups showing up to take advantage of this disaster by asking for your donation. My caution is to make sure you know the organization you are giving to.

Pray for the people of Haiti, the many missionaries that live in Haiti, and all the people that have gone there to help.

God Bless,
