Pals Fond Farewell Hop

Welcome to the Stampin' Pretty Pals June Hop! This month we are saying good bye to some of our old friends, the 30 colors retiring in Stampin'Up!'s Color Renovation. If you hopped over from Margaret Moody's site, www.margaretmoody.typepad.com, I'm stop number 17 on the Pals Hop.

You are in for a treat today! All 17 Stampin'Up! demonstrators have come up with some amazing projects using the retiring colors. If you should hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-Up and you'll be back on track.

In honor of the retiring colors, we're offering Blog Candy at each of the 17 stops along the hop. Each Stampin' Pretty Pal has a specific question for you to leave a comment about. Answer every one and have 17 chances to win some great Stampin'Up! goodies!

This vase is bursting with flowers using the Simple Flower and Flower Burst Embosslit Dies and the Big Shot. My mom tried very hard to teach me "flower arranging" but never using paper crafted flowers. I chose to use retiring colors from the Bold Brights family, YoYo Yellow, Pink Passion, Pixie Pink, Orchid Opulence, Lovely Lilac, Brillant Blue, and Tempting Turquoise. Mingled in amongst the flowers are some Glorious Green leaves punched out with the 5-Petal Flower punch.

The vase was created using a piece of Vellum card stock that is 5" along the top and 3" along the bottom. I scored the two sides at 1/8", bent them back and attached them to a piece of Whisper White card stock using Glue Dots (only along the sides). The vase is 3-D and not flush against the card. Before scoring it, I took Ballet Blue ink and sponged it on the Vellum to imitate water. Behind the vase I attached small strips of Glorious Green stems. To give my flowers some depth I used Glue Dots and Stampin' Dimensionals.

My cute little envelope was created using the Scallop Envelop Die and Tempting Turquoise card stock. I had a bit of difficulty getting the envelope sides to adhere and found Tombow Glue to work perfectly. The note was created using Sincere Salutations inked in Chocolate Chip and Pocket Silhouettes. The flower stems are inked in Old Olive and the retiring colors, Tempting Turquoise, YoYo Yellow, & Orchid Opulence. I then used the same three retiring colors and punched out flowers with the Itty Bitty Shapes pack dotting each flower center with Crystal Effects.

Now for some Blog Candy!
This Fond Farewell Card Kit includes everything you need to make a few cards. Included in this kit are 10 retired colors card stock bases, 2 stamps, 1 black ink spot, 5 ~ 1 yard pieces of ribbon, and a mixture of retiring buttons, clips, and brads. The plastic case is used for display and is not part of the Blog Candy.

For your chance to win all the above goodies, please leave me a comment at the end of this post by 3:00pm CST (that's 4pm for all you Easterners), Friday, June 11th, at which time I'll choose a random winner. Shipping is to US only.

My questions is:
  • How often do you get to stamp or create?
  • I'll start : I stamp or create 4-5 times a week. This week is a busy week for me so I think I will be stamping every day ~ yeah!! Now it's your turn!
I will announce the winner of my blog candy here on my blog, Sunday, June 13th, 2010. The winner will have 48 hours to contact me after their name is announced.

More inspiring ideas and blog candy awaits you at Liz Hughes diypapercreations.typepad.com, stop number one on the Fond Farewell Pals Hop. Hop on over and thanks for stopping (hopping) by!!

God Bless,

Lately I only have the chance if I'm in dire need of a card and then it's only a few minutes to try and crank something out. I guess we've been a little busy!

Thanks for the chance to win!

Your vase of flowers is incredible, Martha! I just love your project. XOXO

I have plenty of time to stamp. I stamp as often as I am inspired ot not busy with the other things of my life. I would like to stamp 5 to six days a week. Maybe some week that will happen.

I love the tiny envelope and note card. I wouldn't have thought to use the Itty Bitty Flower on it like that. Just lovely :)

Very creative idea. I love your flowers w/vase. I get to stamp/create everyday but unfortunatly my bad hands don't allow me too so I do it as much as possible

I sleep in my craft room, so I can possibly stamp every day, but usually 2-3 times weekly!

LOVE the flower basket and get well cards! I can't wait to try and make one for my mom who has been ill! I know that will put a smile on her face! I try to get to my craft room at least 3-4 times per week!

I'm usually in my studio 5-6 days a week, and if I miss two days in a row, my fingers start to get itchy! i LOVE your floral bouquet, by the way!

I work full time with stamping "constantly" on my mind. I usually stamp about 4 time per week. A few nights after work, and ALWAYS on one of the weekend mornings. I get lost in my mess for hours on a Saturday or Sunday.

KardsbyKadie said...

If I seriously can't get into my studio every single day - I'm kind of on the CRABBY side. (So my husband encourages me to "Go to my Room" often)

Jane White said...

I get to stamp about three times/week, but less in the summer when there is yardwork to be done.

Susan Carlson said...

I love how you added the bitty punches to the pocket silhouettes image and what you did with the vellum.

I try to stamp at least three times/week. Now that my four children are home for the summer I'm not sure I'll be stamping that often.

It depends on my children! Some days we have no where to run and others it is all that I do. I would say I get to stamp every day for a few hours at least.

I stamp 24/7 !!!! that's what my family says... and they are so right... the only break I have is when I'm in the kitchen or sleeping... It is my passion..

If you asked how often I wish I could stamp, it would be everyday! I think I do that around the holidays. I only have the chance to do it once or twice a week. Sometimes not even that!
Thank you for the beautiful flower card inspiration!

I stamp about two times a week if I can. I'd like to do more but have two little ones under age three so spend my time chasing them...

I try to do something once or twice a month...honestly, that's all of the time I get!! Over the holidays it's usually more because I have a week off between Christmas and New Years but otherwise it's hit or miss.

I only have the weekends to work on cards. I wish I had more time to work on cards and 3D items

ray said...

that is a 'depends' question. Some weeks life is so buisy I go two weeks without seeing my craft room. Other times I can spend 2-3 days a week card making.

What a gorgeous paper flower bouquet card! Now that would be sure to brighten someones' day!!

How often do I get to stamp? Well, during school (I go to college) my extra time is usually homework time, so I'm lucky to turn out maybe 3 cards in a week. But now that summer is here I"m on a roll! I'm averaging about 10 cards a week or more! But I'm expecting a baby here in about 6-8 weeks which will make my stamping time take a HUGE hit for sure! But I'll manage to work it in during naps! LOL!

Tiny Paper Blossom said...

lately I have been able to do it every day, but I know there are times of the year when I can go several days or a week without creating.

Love the little card. It reminds me of those you can get at the florist, only much prettier!

I stamp on an average of 5 days per week.

What a sweet get well flower basket creation - love it! It seems that I "think" about stamping 24/7 - I love to blog hop in the mornings to get inspiration. And while I have the best intentions of "creating", it's usually only on the weekends that I'll pull out my stuff and get inky!

Olivia M said...

I don't get to create as much as I'd like. I need a space that's accessible even for 15 minutes a day. Great card sample!

Stacy said...

I try for once a week, but when I really get going, I'll stamp several days in a row. Then, sometimes its a few weeks again before I stamp...usually because I've created such a mess and I don't want to work on picking it up to start another project!

Martha, all I can say is wow! What a wonderful card for someone in the hospital. I can't wait to case it! I probably THINK about stamping more than I actually do it (unfortunately). But my BFF and I like to spend a morning every couple of weeks and make a set of our latest favorite cards. I tend to make 8 to 10 cards at a time so I always have one ready to go, and can give away sets of cards as hostess gifts, teacher gifts, thank you gifts, etc.

I think I would have developed post-partum depression if I didn't get to stamp!

Then I get together with a SU group and also (gasp-competition) CTMH group. So, once for sure in my house and then twice at other locations pretty much. I need to really work on this hobby more but just can't seem to find the time. Plus, I am totally unorganized it takes me awhile to find everything to create!

Love your vase and flowers...so pretty! I always love visiting your blog! Normally, I stamp once a week but I have been making masculine birthday cards for several family members so lately it's been 3 to 4 evenings a week.

I usually stamp 3-5 times a week. Many times with friends. I love cardmaking and have been sending cards to people on our prayer list at church. What a wonderful hobby and what a wonderful way to bond with friends and family.
Love your bright and cheery creations and the nice way you used the itty bits.

What a pretty way to use the flowers.
I wish I could craft everyday but it's usually just a few hours on the weekends.

How clever you are, I just adore your vase full of flowers. I create and make cards or paint almost 5 days a week. I try not to work on the weekends but we all know how that is.

Beautiful vase and flowers, so creative!

I don't get much stamping time, typically, it is on an as needed basis! :(

In the last two years, I have made two scrapbooks so I haven't had much time to stamp. Within the last two months, I been re-stocking with some of the retired SU products. Once all products arrive, I'll start making more time to stamp.

Well I teach and during the school year I get to create once a week at best and sometimes only once a month. During the summer it is definitely a daily occurance. 8 more school days...can't wait to get scrappy!

Thanks so much for the chance to win these beautiful SU products. This blog-hop thing has been fun and I'm sad to be at the end of it.

Ok -the question. How often do I get to stamp or create? I only get to stamp/create 1) the night before a holiday I need a card for or once every 2 months. :( But when I do go to the trouble of pulling out all my gear I take over the whole table and work a bit each night for a week. Then sadly it all gets put away again for a few more months or until I desperately need a card fast.

1st I have to say you have inspiring card designs. Now to answer your question. I average about 2 cards a week if I'm not caught up on the web or working on my own blog. I would love to do this fulltime until then, it's the best stress relief I have from my day job. Lol!
Mahalo for sharing your designs.

First as everyone is saying, Thanks so much for making such an amazingly different card and sharing in great detail how it can be made! Unfortunately I don't get to craft any where near as much as I would like. If I am lucky I produce a card a week.

My girlfriends and I try to get together at least once a month. I go into my stamp room at various times. It really depends on my schedule. Thanks and great card.

Such a sweet project! I stamp about 3 or 4 times a week, though it make take me one evening and the next morning to finish a card! I'm new and it's just taking me too long to finish a card :P I try to get 2 or 3 cards done a week. Thank you for the chance. :)

I stamp every day BUT Sunday. I try to reserve Sunday for family. If my family has a stamping project to do for school or just for fun...I'll stamp on any Sunday, too! My friends and family know I have a life of many stamps so its a given I open my door wearing my SU! apron with stamp in hand! Thanks for your inspirations, Martha!

Once every few weeks. We have been trying to sell our house so my supplies have been hidden away. However, we are "in contract" and I can't wait to get to the new place and spread everything out - FULL TIME!

I don't get too much time to create--maybe once every 2 weeks! But, between now and June 20, I have 2 birthdays, father's day, our anniversary, my sister's anniversary, and teacher cards to make! So, I will probably be in there every day until then!

Beautiful use of the Big Shot flowers. I had to look them up and the catalog and wondered why I have never ordered them. I get to stamp once or twice a week. I call it my therapy and tell people that it is much cheaper than a psychiatrist.

I would love to stamp 4 or 5 times a week but unfortunately I only get to about 1 or 2 times a week. At this time I don't have a craft space so I use my dining room table and my family likes to eat more than they like me to stamp. Someday. Loved your flowers, the card was great. Thanks.

DixieCurl from SCS said...

Wow! Love those beautiful flowers and the sweet little card that accompanies them!

I have been out of crafting for a while, but recently started again. I stamp a few times a month now and have begun taking classes again monthly for inspiration and encouragement.

Terri C. said...

I certainly don't get to stamp/create as much as I would like. It is usually only about two to three times a month. I have a busy job and family, so I don't get to stamp as much as I would like.
PS I really like your ideas.

Colleen Dietrich said...

I WISH I could stamp 4 - 5 times per week, but on an average week it's probably one or two days. Boo hoo. My dining room table (the only table in the house) is my stamping center, so if I am getting out my supplies, I'd better darn well use 'em and then whisk 'em away before dinner! So that's pretty much why I have limited days.

I only get the chance to create once a week. Life is pretty busy right now, so getting one day a week is a real blessing. However, I'm usually doing laundry at the same time.
