Enjoying Nature with Stampin'Up!

PPA44 & SC282

The sketch challenges for Pals Paper Arts and Split Coast were very similar so, I created 1 project for both challenges. What's the chances of that happening!

Once in a while Stampin'Up! comes up with an image that takes me back to my childhood. These last two days the images I've used, Natures Nest and All a Flutter have been a fun trip down memory lane. When I look back on my childhood, probably one of the biggest influences on me was the love and appreciation for nature my parents modeled. Our family was always outside. I remember day breaks spent banding birds with my dad in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. We did a lot of hiking growing up with "Peterson Guides" in hand identifying plants, birds, and reptiles. I remember hatching "praying mantis" in a jar and hundreds of them getting out into the room! I remember leaf houses in the fall, a calf by our fireplace one winter when it was born too early, hunting for bird's nests in the spring, and watching a field of fireflies in the summer. Great memories!

Because I was having so much fun down memory lane, I repeated the same technique I used yesterday. I stamped the dragon fly from the Nature's Nest stamp set in Soft Suede ink onto Vellum card stock and cut it out. I kept the colors monochromatic and paired Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, and Thoroughly Modern Designer Series paper together. My dragon fly is sitting a top a grass blade from Inspired By Nature stamp set inked in Soft Suede and attached by a glue dot. The band is a piece of Soft Suede which I roughed up a bit and the sentiment is a rub on from Chit Chat Rub Ons punched out using the Modern Label punch.

My dad passed away in 2000 but, if he were here he'd be gettin' this card!!

Thanks for stopping by! Make sure to stop by Pals Paper Arts and see how everyone else interpreted this challenge! Give it a try yourself!! Tomorrow (Friday) I will be posting my Memorial Day special so, stop back by.

God Bless,
Recipe:
Stamps: Natures Nest
Ink: Soft Suede
Paper: Very Vanilla, Soft Suede, Thoroughly Modern, Vellum card stock
Misc: Modern Label punch, Stampin' Dimensionals
