What do you give a guy on Valentine’s Day? We’ve got a few ideas for you!
My eldest daughter made her brothers at college magnetic paper dolls. She wanted to give them something a little more than a card, something to make them laugh, something to take their mind off school and something to fit their personality.


This first guy is a Spartan. My youngest son, Jacob loves the movies about the Spartans. His magnetic doll has a cupid outfit, a Spartan war outfit and of course an every day outfit.  He is complete with a six pack of abs too!


The ninja guy is for my eldest son, George. Growing up, the boys were often ninjas and in later years they became fans of “Ask a Ninja” on You Tube.  It is quite silly, sort of on the 3 Stooges level, but boy did they laugh. Besides his ninja outfit he has a suit for special occasions and baggies and surf board for the beach.


This last card was inspired from a card by demo friend, Liz Hughes. Our family loves Star Trek. We’ve watched all the different series and still watch the reruns! I’m a bit partial to the original crew of Captain Kirk and Spock.  My husband is the recipient of the Captain Kirk valentine card.

3 Days of Valentines - Day 3

Today’s cards were created using a bargello technique. To get this look, I cut the More Amore Specialty Designer paper and Red Glimmer paper into 1/4”, 1/2” and 3/4” strips and glued them onto a piece of card stock with a glue stick. I picked two different sides of the More Amore paper and mixed in Glimmer Paper to give it some shine! I then put it through the Big Shot using the Hearts Collection Framelit die.

3 Days of Valentines–Day 2

Today’s valentine is a take off on the tri fold card but instead of flaps that overlap you have hearts.  When it is closed the hearts connect and look like they are cascading down the card.
The card base is 8”x5.25” scored at 2” and 6”. You could place this on a 1/4 sheet of card stock for a more finished look.  The hearts are cut from the Hearts Collection Framelits Die. I used the third smallest heart and dry embossed it with Elegant Bouquet Folder.
The placing of the hearts gets a bit tricky. With the the card closed, the bottom heart is flush with the bottom of the card and the point is about 2 1/8” from the left side of the card and adhered to the left fold. The top heart will be the same distance to the left as the bottom. The distance between the top and bottom heart tips is about 3 3/8”. The top heart is also adhered onto the left fold. The middle heart is placed approximately 1 9/16” from the left side and 1 9/16” from the bottom of the card. The middle heart is adhered to the right fold. If my measurements don’t work exactly for you just play around with their placement until you get the hearts to interlock. I adhered them with Tombow. The hearts easily interlock and open without tearing or coming off.


Here it is unfolded with plenty of room to put another sentiment and note.
This card fits perfectly into our medium sized envelopes.

3 Days of Valentines

It has been a long time since I’ve posted. We’ve been busily making valentines this year and I thought I would share our results over the next three days.
Today’s card combines the More Amore Specialty Designer Series Paper from the new mini catalog with the stamp set Affection Collection that was in the Holiday mini catalog.
These colors were a stretch for me but when it’s all said and done; not a bad card.

We Have a Winner!

This January I presented a challenge to members of my downline, a Sale-a-bration Challenge. They were given a list of tasks to choose from to complete. The more tasks you completed the more chance you had of winning. The prize being a Stampin'Up! gift certificate from me.

No, It Wasn't Run Over

My dad, a very wise man, once told me "Martha, never lose your sense of humor". I'm reminded of that today as I post another attempt at the "vintage look". My coffee spilled? It fell under my car tire? I did this on purpose?

I had fun making it and laughed out loud to myself quite a few times so, it's all good! The card is actually growing on me.

I used the Love Letter Designer Series paper which I find hard to use IMHO (in my humble opinion). The stamp set is Artistic Etchings. I pulled out my Distressing Kit and went to town with the Tea Stain, stamp block, sanding block, and sanding tools. I used it ALL! These tools give you all sorts of "distressing" possibilities.

I love the Red Glimmer paper; my "vintage bling" and the Pinking Hearts Border. And if you've never tried our Seam Binding, you have got to! It's easy to use and can easily be manipulated. You won't be disappointed.

I {Heart} Hearts Perfect for Valentines

Today's projects were created by a member of my downline, Dawn Symeon. She recently became a demonstrator and has been "cranking" out the cards!

She's made great use of the I {Heart} Hearts set, from her starter kit, in creating her cards. She doesn't own a paper cutter yet and cut out all the pieces by hand! I couldn't even tell.

I love the shading she used around the edges and love how she used the 3 heart image as her focus in the first card. I would have punched it out never thinking to leave it as is!

I think she's done a great job in all the details of her cards.

PALS January Hop

The most difficult part of these projects was figuring out when we had used too much Glimmer Paper! The Filled With Love stamp set is a perfect set to let your children create their own Valentine's this year. With so many images, they will have plenty to choose and decorate from! And if you have the Big Shot, the Two Tags Die makes great valentines.
We felt a bit like Dorothy from Oz with all the red shimmery paper. Even Mr. Owl seems pretty content in his sparkly outfit. I know some girls that will love to mark their books with this little guy.

Valentine Garland Class & PPA26

This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is "Anything But a Card". Perfect timing for the Valentine Garland class coming up the end of January.

The garland was created using the Sending Love Specialty paper, card stock, and lots of embelishments! There are punches, the Big Shot die cuts, Sticky Pages, Chunky Glitter, brads, stamp sets, Satin ribbon, and even some embossing in this project. I got it ALL out! and had a great time making it. And if you like glitter, you will love this paper. Each sheet has one side with glitter on it. My photography does not show it but the glitter on these sheets is beautiful!

The first and last panel are for your family pictures. The second panel is a sheet of Very Vanilla card stock with the phrase from Love Bandit, "I like you more than ________" stamped on it for every family member. The purpose being for each family member to fill in their own blank. I know my blank will read "dark chocolate"! Now it becomes a keepsake!

Sale-a-bration's Whimsical Words for PPA25

Today's project was created for the Pals Paper Arts Inspiration challenge this week. With Valentine's Day coming who wouldn't be inspired by this decadent piece of chocolate. I mean, really!

The card starts with a Very Vanilla base card 4 1/4"x 5 1/2". Every layer has a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock under it; I'm getting hungry just writing this. Have you ever noticed how many names of Stampin'Up! colors are names of food?? I'm digressing -

The Real Red Layers were dry embossed with one of the Background Texture plates and the Big Shot. I then inked on VersaMark trying to keep as much off the card and on the raised texture as possible. I then embossed it with Clear Embossing powder. It gives it an interesting look, kind of like the shimmer on the chocolate.

The scallop was cut with the Scallop Circle #2 die. I just got it and I LOVE it!

The circle is a 3" circle cut with the Circle Scissor Plus. I have to say the more I use this tool, the more I like it. It frustrated me in the beginning but, I trust the products Stampin'Up! puts in their catalogs. Now, I can cut a quick, clean circle.

The sentiment is from the Whimsical Words Clear Mount stamp set in the Sale-a-bration catalog. It is also embossed with Clear Embossing powder over Chocolate Chip ink. I then punched it out with the Full Heart Punch. Perfect fit!

The final embellishments are the two 1/4" Sending Love Chocolate Chip brads. I love these new brads.

It's The Valentine Holiday Hop!

Now on to my projects!

Glitter and Valentine's Day go together like peanut butter and jelly and this card sparkles with it! The product focus of this card is the new Specialty Designer Series paper, Sending Love, available in the new Mini Occasions Catalog. Each sheet has one side with glitter on it! I love it! In this card you are seeing three different sides of this paper set.

The heart is from the Always stamp set. It was inked in VersaMark and Real Red ink and then embossed with Iridescent Ice Embossing powder. The sentiment is from Holiday Best, a Level 1 Hostess set. It was inked and embossed the same way as the heart.

The card is finished with an envelop lined with the Sending Love Specialty paper.

I love decorating treats and Valentine's is the perfect time to decorate sweets for your sweet! This is a project from my Wrapping 101 series. Inside it holds a small cello bag of chocolate. The outside is decorated with the Sending Love Specialty paper and punched with the Heart to Heart punch. I used a Very Vanilla Jumbo Grommet and secured the front to the back with the new Pretty in Pink Epoxy Brads. If your candy is a bit too heavy you may need to attach the cello bag to the back of the treat holder first and then secure it with the epoxy brad through the grommet.

The tag was created using the Holiday Best hostess set. It too was inked in VersaMark, Pretty in Pink ink and embossed in Iridescent Ice. The edge of the tag is punched using the new Pinking Hearts Border punch.

Our family always makes mail boxes for our Valentines each year. It has become sort of a tradition. Over the years they have been as simple as stapling 2 paper plates together and as elaborate as shoe boxes with paper towel rolls to drop candy down and cardboard flags to tell when a delivery has been made. So, I couldn't resist creating something you can do as a family. The project above is a small oatmeal container covered in card stock. The Love Bandits stamp set made its debut on these projects! The branches were created using the My Way punch with hearts punched from the Heart to Heart punch as leaves. The Big Shot Billboard die was used to create "Be Mine".

This last project is my favorite and is created by my 8 year old, Michele. We took a granola bar box and covered it with card stock and put two rectangles at the top for the roof. You can open the roof and deliver the valentines here. Michele loved the characters from Love Bandit creating her own Valentine scene with this stamp set and punched out hearts.
